Ukraine Prime Minister Promises More Resources for the Regions
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatseniuk, promised during a speech televised in Russian, more powers and more resources to the regions.
In a speech aimed at the regions of the South and the East of the country, Yatsenyuk said that it will introduce reforms on a large scale in order to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Specific requirements of each region, said the Prime Minister will be taken into account in the area of education, culture and history.
Russia complained on several occasions that the rights of Ukrainian citizens of Russian ethnic origin in these regions had been threatened.
UN sending human rights monitors to Kharkiv and Donetsk to assess the situation.
