Officials of the interim government of Ukraine assured that the country faces the threat of a full-scale invasion by the Russian army stationed at their borders.
The secretary of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy said that Russian troops are only two or three hours walk from the capital, Kiev, and that none of the Russian troops had retreated.
Ukrainian armed forces are on high alert.
The secretary urged the Ukrainian population to enroll in the new National Guard.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in recent days that it reserves the right to use force to protect Russian citizens.
