11 Injured in Two Building Collapse in NYC
Two buildings collapsed Tuesday in the area of Manhattan in New York City, apparently because of an explosion.
A fire spokesman confirmed that there are at least eleven minor injuries. So far there is no information about fatal injuries or if anyone is trapped in the buildings.
At about 9:30 local time, firefighters responded to a call about the collapse of a building in East Harlem .
Soon after, the Police Department of New York City said it was investigating reports that the collapse would have involved two buildings.
The incident occurred on 116th Street at the height of Park Avenue.
Television footage shows smoke and dust and debris coming out of the building and the fire department pouring water on the property .
Many rescue vehicles and services are on scene.
Meanwhile, city authorities suspended service trains (Metro North) as the tracks are straight ahead and could have debris.
