For the year of 2013, Rhode Island had the second worst unemployment rate in the country at percent. Only Nevada came first with an unemployment rate of percent. These figures are according to revised state-by-state figures released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Children Fall Through Ice in North Kingstown

Three children are lucky to be alive after they fell through the ice on a pond in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. A neighbor who lives nearby said he saw the children playing and warned them about the dangers of falling in. A few seconds later, he was calling 911. He brought the children to his house to recover after falling into the cold water. The kids were seen by paramedics and are expected to be fine.

Local Hospitals Contacting Patients Who May Have Been Exposed to Measles

The Rhode Island Department of Health is reporting that both Rhode Island Hospital and Roger Williams Medical Center are working to notify patients who may have been exposed to measles. On February 25, a man was treated at Roger Williams Medical Center for a sore throat and fever. He was then seen on the 28th at a CVS Minute Clinic in North Attleboro for a rash. Providence Police Investigate Fourth Homicide of the Year

On Sunday morning, one man was stabbed to death and his brother sustained minor injuries on Federal Hill in Providence. Police have one suspect in custody and are looking for additional suspects. The suspect in custody was identified as Eric Souza, 29, of Assonet, Massachusetts. The victims in the double stabbing were found in the vicinity of 170 Atwells Ave. at about 2 Satchel Ramos, 22, of Providence was fatally stabbed and his brother, Clyde Ramos, 26, also stabbed, was treated and released.

Former Mayor Moreau Could Walk Free On Friday

Rhode Island - Rhode Island Housing announced that it has received federal tax credits for two developments to provide 107 affordable housing in the city of Providence. One project will be at Sankofa Apartments which will include 50 rental units at an affordable price on vacant land in the neighborhood of West Elmwood. Rhode Island - A Missouri man pleads guilty to sex trafficking when he took a 17 year old with disabilities from Massachusetts to Rhode Island. Stephen Ardrey, 30, admitted that he met the girl online and contacted her for several months, until last September when he met her in Medfield, Massachusetts where he later took her to a motel in West Greenwich, RI.
